The past few months have flown by and now it's time to depart. After soaking up all the family time I could get, it's time to push off. I put it in drive and head for Des Moines, IA, as I plan to meet Mike Kirkwood (Kearney, NE) and Brian Huggins (Des Moines) who are also attending the academy and being sent from the Omaha field office. The first three hours of the 19+ hour road trip were uneventful to say the least, which gave me plenty of time to process how this training would affect me both short and long term.
