I am taking a mixture of undergraduate and graduate level classes, here is the list:
Employment Law
Effective Writing
Essentials for Law Enforcement Leaders
Fitness in Law Enforcement
Media and Managing the Law Enforcement Image
Forensic Science for Police Administrators
Enrichment and Networking
Which is a total of 17 transferable credit hours coordinated between the FBI and the University of Virginia. This is basically a full traditional semester of classes jammed into only 10 weeks.
Classes are in 2 hour blocks, (starting at 0730 hours), of which we have 4 per day. Every class is mandatory and role is kept. If there isn't class on a particular day then we have a guest speaker (enrichment), or an online class takes its place. Online classes usually involve a reading and in turn an essay response, then you must peer review and comment at length on at least 2 other essays. We do get out of class early a few times throughout the session.
Academic requirements for my classes:
2- Two page papers
2- Three-Five page research papers (APA style mandatory)
2- Seven-Ten page research papers (APA style mandatory)
3- Short presentations with outlines and power point)
5- Group presentations of minimum 25 minutes, with outlines, power point handouts and citations.
1 Case brief review
Peer review quotations
Class participation
Journal keeping
Design and track a fitness and nutrition regimen
Seemingly endless reading assignments
And of course Mid terms and Final exams
It is manageable, but very time consuming considering we have several mandatory evening events throughout the session. Getting behind or procrastination is not an option as you cannot hand in work that is late.
Just wanted to assure everyone that I am not on vacation; however I am still having a great time learning and interacting with some of the best law enforcement leaders in the world.
That is all.
